WordPress themes for photographers. 5 most popular themes

Today’s post is dedicated to photographers and everyone who is wondering what are the most interesting WordPress themes for photographers. You’re probably here for the first time, so I’ll mention at the outset: I’m a WordPress developer with years of experience, and in this blog I advise you on which templates you should pay your attention to, and which you should avoid.

The following list of themes is a collection of the most popular (best-selling) proposals on themeforest.net, which is probably the most well-known sales platform where you can find, among other things, templates and plugins for WordPress.

1. Photography (16,500+ sold)

We start with the interesting Photography template, which currently offers more than 36 eye-catching demos to choose from and was published by the popular ThemeGoods author having at the time of writing this post more than 180,000 sold copies of its themes.

Photography is a template based on the popular Elementor tool, which will allow you to easily customize the installed demo in many ways. What catches my attention and seems very interesting from a photographer’s perspective is the ability to create a password-protected gallery that you can send to your clients, and most interestingly – clients can accept or reject photos, which can certainly make your work and communication with clients easier.

These aren’t the only interesting things, as the authors report $459 worth of plugins – one is Slider Revolution, which is one of the more popular slide creation tools, but also available in every other template. The other is an appointment booking tool, although here, unfortunately, there is no information on what the plugin is – probably the author’s.

Is it a perfect template? Unfortunately, the average rating of 4.60 with almost more than 800 reviews is only a decent score, and users who have purchased this template point out flaws such as poor quality, a lot of bugs, slow-running site, poor optimization.

2. Core (14,500+ sold)

The second item is the author of ThemeGoods for the second time and, unfortunately, an even lower rating with more reviews. Core template is one of the older themes, as it premiered in 2011 and a lot of negative reviews were added more than 10 years ago, so theoretically you can’t be bothered by it somehow…. BUT. Here we don’t have any of the interesting features found in the theme above, as well as in the mass of other proposals. Is it worth buying this in 2024? I would keep looking!

With an average rating of 4.31 with over 1,300 reviews, this is a poor result.

3. Novo (7,900+ sold)

A breath of fresh air, that is, meet Novo – a theme loaded with many custom features, and which various WordPress templates for photographers do not have.

What interesting features will we find here?

  • The recently popular color switcher – when browsing, with one click we can choose whether we want the light version of the theme or the dark version, which is more comfortable for the eyes at night,
  • Password-locked photo gallery,
  • Blocking the ability to copy text and photos with the right mouse button – keep in mind that this is not an ideal solution,
  • Watermarks applied to photos,
  • Interactive slider for comparing two photos.

Buying this template, you will have at your disposal one of 11 demo versions to choose from, as well as the ability to configure the appearance of the photo gallery in one of 25 ways.

Average rating of 4.85 with almost over 182 reviews. The highest score so far!

4. Fluxus (6,800+ sold)

Probably years of experience with WordPress have grown an aversion to older themes in me, because not every developer follows the trends and updates and upgrades their work. When I browse through the most popular WordPress templates for photographers, I see that unfortunately this is a popular problem, and this is the case with Fluxus.

You won’t find features here like in items 1 and 3, there is no page builder that allows you to easily customize the template in many ways, and there are no regular updates, as the latest one was released in February 2022.

What do we do? We keep looking.

The average rating is 4.34 with almost over 446 reviews.

5. PhotoMe (6,500+ sold)

We end this ranking with the PhotoMe template, which…. you won’t guess… belongs to the author of ThemeGoods. Here we have a choice of 11 interesting looks for the template, which will surely appeal to many of you. The features? Similar to the first place. Is it worth it? If you like this template, by all means!

Average rating of 4.65 with almost 400+ reviews.
