What is the best WordPress blog theme? In the past, the situation was very simple, as we created blogs on blogspot.com and chose one of the available themes, and a much bigger problem was its name. Now there are thousands of available themes for WordPress, and the paid themes alone for a personal blog on the most popular platform themeforest.net are now almost 600. In this post I will look at the eight best-selling ones (from 50 thousand to 4.6 thousand copies sold).
Why do I focus on the best-selling WordPress blog theme? Usually it’s related to the longevity of the template and the ability to see if the author cares about regular updates. Personally, I avoid buying a very fresh template, because it’s not uncommon for a theme developer to abandon updating it after just a month. I’m a WordPress developer, so I can handle it, but you (if you don’t have expertise in building templates) will be left with problems.
WordPress blog theme – table of contents:
So let’s check out the best-selling WordPress blog theme!
1. Soledad (49,900+ sold):
Soledad starts this ranking for a reason. Here we have a similar situation to the ranking of the best-selling WordPress store themes, that is, the first position has as many copies sold as all the other places. The reason is immediately apparent, that is, the ability to customize the homepage in more than 6,000 ways (I wonder how this was counted?), which means that you will be able to customize this template in any way you want and create with it a blog page with topics such as car detailing, travel, recipes, zero waste, magazine or fashion. These are just some of the demos available.
What catches the eye? An update that was published two days before the publication of this post. This is a very good indication, since the template was published in 2015.
The template has everything a template for a blog should have, and as long as its design appeals to you, it’s definitely worth a look.
Best suited for: magazine, blog, store, company website.
With an average rating of 4.87 with almost over 1,200 reviews, this is a very good score and is certainly a template worth looking at.

2. CheerUp (9,400+ sold)
CheerUp is a WordPress blog theme much more geared towards creating a news portal or personal blog with the addition of an online store. Here we have a choice of only 14 unique demos, which, according to the creators, we can change in more than 1000 ways.
Subjectively, I like this proposal better and if I were creating a weblog in 2024, I would certainly pay attention to this WordPress blog theme. The creators boast of hundreds of improvements in the theme version 8.0, which was released in February 2024. This is always a positive news, because very many authors forget about decent optimization of their works.
Why did CheerUp catch my attention? Here we have a limited number of demos to choose from, but in my opinion their number is sufficient. We can easily create a food blog, a magazine, a lifestyle blog, a fashion blog, a travel blog, a fitness blog or a beauty blog, and perhaps thanks to this small number of demos, the creators have been able to focus on developing and optimizing features for 8 years after the release of their product, rather than creating more twin demos.
Best suited for: personal blog / magazine
Average rating of 4.80 with only 147 reviews. Score approx.

3. Authentic (8,800+ sold)
Authentic, which is authentically the first breath of fresh air in this ranking, because subjectively – I really like most of the demos offered. They are simple, modern and nice.
We can choose from 50 demos here, with which we can create a blog with fitness, interior design, education, sports, music, culinary, travel or beauty themes without any problems. There are more possibilities and you have to go through all the dem versions yourself.
Buying this template you will get a lot of interesting features that will be useful for your blog. It is definitely worth taking a look at this theme!
Best suited for: personal blog / magazine. Authentic is versatile and you can use it for anything (including gaming, fashion, travel, interiors, food, lifestyle, news, technology, finance, photography, cars, architecture).
Average rating of 4.90 with 246 reviews. A super score!

4. Buzz (7,300+ sold)
Modern, unique and a modest number of demos – that’s Buzz. The developers here offer only 18, but strongly different demos. Mostly bright ones, as only one version (Lynx) was made with dark colors and involves the recently popular AI and Metaverse.
With the help of this theme we can create nice and minimalist blogs. Themes such as a wedding blog, fashion, women’s lifestyle, travel or photography blog will work perfectly here, and if you are just looking for a theme in a light color scheme, using beige colors, then you should pay attention to Buzz.
Best suited for: minimalist personal blog in bright colors
Average rating of 4.86 with 330 reviews. Good score.

5. Typology (5,100+ sold)
Do you like minimalism? With my previous post I mentioned a minimalist blog, so I don’t know what you’ll say about that:
Typology is without hesitation a unique WordPress blog theme that offers a very simple and concrete design. It will be perfect for people who want to write and don’t need to use images to present their content well. Personally, I’m not a fan of this type of solution, but the reviews of this template suggest that it’s a good product and maybe you’ll like it?
Best suited for: a very (!) minimalist blog with content
Average rating of 4.94 with 229 reviews. Wow!

6. Malina (4,800+ sold)
Malina, which is the sixth best-selling WordPress blog theme, is unfortunately an example of a blog abandoned by its authors, and it’s worth stopping here for a moment.
It is an interesting theme, with only a few demo versions. It may have its merits, but…. the last update is 2022, although the official changelog indicates December 20, 2021. what does this mean? When you buy this template you lose any chance of getting support, because next to the price of the template it says “ArtstudioWorks does not support this item”.
No matter how interesting this template might be, I recommend you to AVOID this unless you are a WordPress website developer and your client insisted that he absolutely must buy this template. No, no and no again!

7. Retro Portfolio (4,700+ sold)
Retro Portfolio and retro updates. I will save you time – the design is not worth $39 and the last update in 2021. Avoid unless you fall in love with this template.
Best suited for: portfolio / old-style blog
Average rating 4.42 with 439 reviews.

8. Writing (4,600+ sold)
Unfortunately, this ranking ends badly, because the last position, is also an abandoned template, which offers no support from the author and contains errors (probably due to lack of updates).
As a WordPress website developer, I can’t recommend such a template to you and therefore I won’t write my thoughts here.
